Migrant Education Program

The purpose of the Migrant Education Program (MEP) is to design and support programs that help migrant students overcome the challenges of mobility, cultural and language barriers, social isolation, and other difficulties associated with a migratory lifestyle.  These efforts are aimed at helping migrant students succeed in school and successfully transition to postsecondary education or employment.

The Region 5 MEP provides various levels of support to local education agencies (LEA) based on their category of participation.  LEAs may participate in one of three categories: Shared Service Agreement (SSA), Project or Non-Project.

The Region 5 MEP is actively recruiting in Region 5 communities and ready to assist migrant students succeed.

 

El propósito del Programa de Educación Migrante (MEP) es diseñar y apoyar programas que ayuden a los estudiantes migrantes a superar los desafíos de movilidad, barreras culturales y lingüísticas, aislamiento social y otras dificultades asociadas con un estilo de vida migratorio. Estos esfuerzos tienen como objetivo ayudar a los estudiantes migrantes a tener éxito en la escuela y hacer una transición exitosa a la educación postsecundaria o al empleo.

El MEP de la Región 5 proporciona varios niveles de apoyo a las agencias de educación locales (LEA) o distrito escolares según su categoría de participación. Los distritos pueden participar en una de tres categorías: Acuerdo de servicio compartido (SSA), Proyecto o No proyecto.

El MEP de la Región 5 está reclutando activamente en las comunidades de la Región 5 y está listo para ayudar a los estudiantes migrantes a tener éxito.

IDENTIFICATION & RECRUITMENT OF MIGRATORY CHILDREN

As required by the U.S. Department of Education and the Texas Education Agency, migrant students must be actively recruited year-round in every local educational agency (LEA) in the state, including out of school youth (OSY).  For more information on Identification and Recruitment, click the link below.
