87th Legislative Session Recap Report by TNOYS


Region 5 and 6 Education Service Centers have partnered with TNOYS to provide relevant takeaways from the 87th TX legislative session with educators who work with Highly Mobile Student Populations. This session will focus on Foster Care and McKinney-Vento Homeless programs.

Region 5 Education Service Center’s Foster Care staff are available to address the educational needs of students in foster care within Region 5. Professional development, consortium collaborative forums and joint trainings with child welfare partners are provided to Local Education Agencies (School Districts), Foster Care Liaisons and community stakeholders.

Region 5 LEAs may contact the CPS Education Specialist for assistance regarding any foster care student enrolling at your district.  The CPS Education Specialist is available to be a support for both the school districts and the CPS agency in facilitating educational services for foster children.  Please feel free to contact Lisa McKnight for further assistance.
